your digital footprint can effect your future because you can have things online that can be bad for your reputation as an adult. Also you can have something on it where you or someone looking at it will think you are crazy and foolish. As well as job interviewers will search your name before they interview you. If your Digital Footprint shows that you are the wrong person for the job, you wont get it.
Keeping your digital footprint safe and appropriate is to not post anything that you would be ashamed of at any age. Never post anything to do with drugs, alcohol, pornography and inappropriate. Also try to keep posts Private as much as you can. Don’t let your friends take pictures of you and posting them without you seeing them first
My best advice to you would be to google your name every two months and see what comes up. Anything you don’t like try your best to take that down from the site. contact the app or take the picture down yourself, That should not happen if you had not let your friend post that picture of you. Also don’t use anything by your real name if you are making an account on social media, websites and online games.
