About Me

My name is Jenjira Chawsuriyatrakul, you can call me Jenny. I’m 15 years old and currently in grade 10 at Heritage Woods Secondary School. I have a sister and a brother. They both are annoying. My parents are from China, but I was born in Thailand, so I would consider myself as a Thai person. I’ve been playing piano since I was 4, but I quit for 2 years. However, I feel bad for quitting, so I continued to study until now. My hobbies are walking, running, and playing badminton. I enjoy playing badminton the most because I like to play with my family. In my free time, I love to watch youtube because it helps me feel relaxed every time I’m stressed out and like to hang out with my sister because she’s like my second mom. I also like photography, when I don’t have anything to do I would invite my friend and travel around the city to take pictures. My goals and dreams are to graduate high school and get into a good university.

My favorite quote is “No matter how far you travel, you can never get away from yourself” by Murakami. This quote means that wherever you go, you will still always be the same you. You won’t change your personality or thoughts towards others. It’s my favorite quote because I can be related to this quote. When I first came to Canada to study, I didn’t change myself. Although I learned many life skills, I will still be the same me. I still have the same personalities, thoughts, and ideas. It doesn’t matter if you go anywhere or how far from home are you, but you will still act the same. This quote also reveals the truth about people who want to start a new life. Those people travel far from their home country for many different reasons, but when they travel to another place, they didn’t change their attitudes. It’s only just the environment, the culture, and all the surroundings are not the same.

My favorite youtube clip is

because the message of this video is meaningful which has inspired me to help people even if they didn’t ask for any help. This video reflects the society by showing that people don’t really care about others, it influences others to care more about people around us. Nowadays, people think that money can buy happiness, but the protagonist has shown us that giving something to others can make them happy without money. Even this video is just a 3 minutes commercial, it shows the reality of human nature. This video is important to me because I think that it’s not important if we are rich or poor. The poor people can also be happy and smile every day without the money too. They can live their happy life and spend the most time with their family and friends from only what they have and need not what they want.

My favorite website is https://www.youtube.com/ . This is because there’s a lot of new things that I haven’t discovered, also youtube is very entertaining. Sometimes it makes me relaxed by watching funny videos, movies or listening to music. Whenever I have nothing to do, I will just watch youtube. The main reason I like youtube because I don’t have to pay to watch it yet I get a lot of knowledge and information from what I watch. In addition, there are lots of channels which post global news that I can catch up with instead of reading the newspaper, I can listen to the audio and watch the video which makes me understand more easily.

A picture that impacted me is a picture of a tree.

This was because our life is like a tree. We both needed nutrients and water to be able to survive the world. If we didn’t get what we need, we would die. It’s comparable to human life. If our parents didn’t feed us or take care of us, we wouldn’t be having a good life or a good education. The roots of the tree symbolize our parents nourishing us when we were young. Without these roots, the tree wouldn’t be able to grow such a tall, beautiful tree. The tree trunk represented ourselves. It referred to the time when we were at the stage of growing such as age 3-10. This was because as we grew up, we kept continue collecting information and skills. This helped us to become a better person. The branches represented our friends and others who were not part of my family. This is because they always support me in another way that family couldn’t. Lastly, the leaves played the role of being our shelter and protection for our lives.

  1. Hi Jenny,
4/5 – You have done a good job constructing your page and have integrated media and text quite well. A mark was deducted because you did not embed your video. I really enjoyed your insight into trees:)
