Student Reflections:
- Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):
- a) I would like this job because I would be the owner/boss. I wouldnβt have to work under anyone, and I could make my own rules
- b) I could establish my own hours and not have to worry about getting in trouble for anything
- c) I would have more privileges than any of the other workers and earn a higher salary
- Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):
- a) There would be a lot of pressure and weight put on my shoulders. I would have to maintain everything and make sure there are no problems at all times
- b) I would have to work longer hours. For example, I would have to work until the closing time and wait for everyone to leave.
- c) Having to deal with problems caused by the other workers or customers.
- Is this job for you? Why or why not?
I donβt think this job is for me. Although itβs beneficial being the owner/manager of a business, the job itself doesnβt seem like something I would enjoy, especially if itβs for the rest of my life. In my opinion, managing a restaurant doesnβt seem like the most interesting occupation I could take. I much would rather do something that interests me and makes me want to go to work.
Explain the value of the TYKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary (after high school) plans(education?, training?, travel?, work?).
The TYKTW experience gives us the ability to be open to many work opportunities, even the least expected ones. It broadens our minds to potential jobs we might take after high school. The TYKTW experience also helps us develop ideas about our future plans earlier, which gives us some indication on how much training and experience is needed for a certain job.
