- What is your job title? __________ Sightseeing bus dealer________________________________
- What is your job description? Provide sales services to buyers in a certain area.
What are the duties and/or tasks you perform at your job? _____Help my mother to sell the sightseeing bus, and provide services to buyers __________________________________________
- What qualifications do you have for this job in the following areas:
- a) training? ___ Before being a car seller, you have to give out flyers to people attract customers. You also have to learn the skills for sale, like how to make the price higher, how to let people buy a car in your company. First, you need to go outside and try to talk to people. You have to do that because after you become a car salesman, you need to talk to customers a lot. Another important reason why you have to go outside to talk to someone because to be brave to communicate with a stranger
- b) education? You have to learn some skills of selling a car before you become to a car seller. This company has a room for novices to teach them some necessary skills, such as how to communicate with customers and how to focus their attention on their own company. Every novice gets a book with all the models and colours of cars. If you want to be a qualified car salesman, you need to remember everything in the book.
- c) experience? You need at least 2 years of sales experience to be a formal seller and at least a college degree
- d) skills and attributes (personal qualities)? You have to have good eloquence because you need to convince customers to buy your car. On this basis, you need to dare to communicate with strangers. When you go out to send leaflets or talk to customers, your skills will help you a lot.
What are some of the things you like about the job? I like this job because it’s not just a job, it’s a good opportunity to exercise yourself. Here, you’ll become more daring to communicate with strangers. You’ll know how to deal with people in the sales process. If someone likes cars, it’s a perfect place for him.
What are some of the things you dislike about this job? _____ What I don’t like is that it’s a very hard place to work. We can’t just sit inside and wait for customers to come in. We need to go outside and find out who wants to buy a car. For example, when I go out and ask who wants to buy a car, we’ll find him and bring him to our company. In short, to sell our products to others.
- How do you anticipate this job changing in the next 5 years or so? The sightseeing buses we sell are oil-driven. But now the times are progressing, more and more electric cars appear. So, gasoline cars will be eliminated. And now more and more people choose to travel by bicycle. Fewer and fewer people need cars, and probably no one will come and buy it for a long time.
Other question (s):
_____None__________________________________________________________
Student Reflections:
- Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):
- If you can find a source of customer that are interested in vehicles. You will earn a fair amount of money. Of course, if you put in more effort, you’ll gain more and more. There are many employees in this company, how to communicate with them during lunch or rest. In the process of communication, you can also learn a lot of knowledge and experience.
- Good working environment. You don’t have to go out often in summer. You can sit inside and talk on the phone and enjoy the air conditioning. Of course, sometimes you have to go out and introduce our car to others. But it’s a lot easier than other companies.
- As I said before, it’s a job and an opportunity to exercise yourself. Work here will learn something you can’t learn elsewhere. You may become friends with customers as you come outside and try to get more customer. That is to say, as you work, your friends will become more and more.
- Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):
- a) If you want to do this job, you will need to have a positive attitude. You also need the courage to communicate with the customer. You have to be calm and resourceful when you are facing a costumer’s complain. In order to sell a car successfully, no matter what the customer asks for, you should try to satisfy him. This is a great test of one’s endurance.
- b) When you are dealing with customers, you have to prepare for long term discussion. This will probably take a couple of days. Then costumers will bargain for the price. You need a lot of patience.I have seen a man who has been with his customers from morning to night in order to sell a car. For me, this is basically an impossible task. From getting up in the morning, you have to start thinking about how you can accomplish the mission that your company gave to you
- c) this is a risky job because you need to purchase vehicles from factories. Therefore, using a strategy to convince costumers to buy vehicles in a decent amount of money is important. For example, if you buy a car for $100,000, you need to sell it for $120,000 or more. If you sell $90,000, you will lose money.
- Is this job for you? Why or why not?
No, it’s not for me because for now, I am fearful communicating with strangers. Then, I don’t like to sit inside to wait for the coming of costumers. I would like to be free. I want to some creative thing but doing the same job daily. Even though I can earn a lot.
Explain the value of the TYKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary (after high school) plans (education?, training?, travel?, work?).
I think this is very good for a student because it can let a student feels the social life ahead of time and experience the work of his parents. This also enables students to understand the current social situation, so students can prepare their work directly in advance.
