Core Competencies Reflection

Core Competency: Critical Thinking

 Here is evidence that I can… strategize, analyze, reason, estimate, model, be creative, visualize, reflect and revise, connect, use mistakes to advance learning, use technology or other tools, extend, reason logically, adapt my ideas, etc.

I believed that I showcased the traits of an effective and advanced critical thinker throughout the course of this assignment due to the fact that I was able to think in between the lines and analyze the significant effects of the industrial revolution. Furthermore, with the use of descriptive vocabulary, I was able to successfully depict my understanding of my learning. You can see me doing so in a variety of different sections in my assignment. Prior to this assignment, I wouldn’t reason logically and thoroughly adapt my ideas, however, during this assignment I was able to successfully develop my critical thinking skills. Moreover, I used technology to my advantage to a great extent, and this definitely paid off in the future. Throughout this assignment, I also found myself asking many questions in regard to the industrial revolution, and I became anxious and eager to answer each question on my own, using my personal knowledge. As previously mentioned, I was able to exercise my thinking ability during this assignment and I’m looking forward to completing more assignment similar to this in the future.

Ways I want to improve are:

Unfortunately, this assignment wasn’t done perfectly. And I definitely noticed a few areas where I could possibly reflect and improve upon. The most notable being creative thinking, I believe that I struggled when it came to creative thinking and that’s clearly depicted in the generic layout of my brochure. Looking back at the assignment, I believe that I could have utilized my technology to my advantage a little bit more and used a variety of different colours and possibly stepped outside of my comfort zone and use a more complex and appealing layout rather than a generic, boring, and bland layout. I plan on improving on this in the near future and I’ve already gone ahead and experimented a little bit with different software’s and websites.
