Video reanaction of Romeo and Juliet Act 3 Scene 3:
Script: Romeo and Juliet- Act 3 scene 3
In a room, Friar Lawrence enters the room, seeing Romeo crying on the ground. Romeo looks up at friar
Romeo: Father, what’s wrong? Has the prince declared my sentence? Am I going to die and leave my poor Juliet behind? Oh, how I can’t stand the thought.
Friar: Son, you are a lucky one. The Prince has given you a light punishment. Rest easy. You will not be sent to a coffin, but outside the walls of Verona.
Romeo: You say rest easy? Rest easy?? Banishment?! Do not utter that evil word in front of me! My life is in Verona, and outside lies only pain and punishment! Being banished from Verona is like being away from all I know and love. I might as well DIE! Banishment is just an easier synonym for death!
Friar: You insolent piece of paper! You committed a crime that should’ve given you a death sentence, but the prince spared you by banishing you instead. he has bestowed grace upon you, but you don’t even acknowledge it and instead resent it!?
Romeo: In no way is it grace, in fact, it’s far from it. It’s torture! Why must they torture me like this? Do you know why I can’t stand away to be from Verona? It’s because in this town resides the fairest maiden of unparalleled beauty. Guess who it is? It’s Juliet of course! And all these frogs can rest their eyes upon this beauty, and possibly woo her! But I can’t! It’s disgusting to think of these insolent garbages trying to encroach themselves upon MY Juliet! Father, if you truly are a priest and help the hearts of men, why do you hurt my heart with this word, banishment?
Friar: Boy, listen to me! I have a plan!
Romeo: A plan for me to live outside the walls? Without my poor Juliet? Father, surely you jest! Let me wallow in my misery and leave me alone. I want to cry, so go away.
Romeo starts crying
Friar: Listen!
Romeo: Shut up, father!
Romeo: Juliet’s in pain because of me! I killed her cousin and broke her heart! Kill me now! End my despair and let me sink into oblivion, freeing Juliet from this pain! Just thinking about her suffering destroys me!
Friar: Stop! You bumbling buffoon! Don’t act like the beast that you aren’t! You are a human, not a wild animal! Are you not a man of intelligence? To kill yourself is to deny the lives that are connected to you, especially Juliet! You want to end the love that you started? Juliet is alive, and so are you! Be happy. Be glad that Tybalt was the one who died, and not you. Be glad that you were not ordered to be killed, but to live! Being alive is the greatest blessing we can have.
Friar: Go! Comfort Juliet and leave for Mantua before you get caught by guards.
Romeo: Epic
Romeo rushes out the door
