How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?

• Jobs: My digital footprint will help me in the future if I wanted a job. For example, I can make a blog for my personal information which only include my graduations angnmentd behavior.That way, I can send it to place where I wants to work at. In addition, hiring managers decide not to hire an applicant because of something they found questionable on a social networking site. This includes posts implying drinking or using drugs, poor communication skills, previous criminal behavior, or even immaturity due to an unprofessional screen name. 
•  College Admission: The Digital Footprint takes aspects of an applicant are taken into consideration, which will often make it clear of the applicant’s admission.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep

your digital footprint appropriate and safe. 

 

• Password: Don’t tell anyone about your password and make to password as long, strong, memorable as possible. 
• Viruses: Many viruses and malware programs are specifically designed to hack your digital footprint, and they are constantly being updated. To help protect yourself, make sure that your antivirus software and your other software programs are up to date. Older software is more vulnerable to be attacked.
• Social Media Settings: Some privacy setting is not trustworthy, because privacy settings will protect you anywhere but on the social media site that uses them. For example, some Facebook users have reported finding their “friends-locked” photographs as public images on Google Image Search. And even sometimes the privacy settings will ask you for your personal information and Mastercard number.

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? 

How would you go about telling them? 

• I’ve learned that mostly all students are equipped with smart phones and computers in which they can send a message to the world with the click of one button. It is an important lesson to let them understand internet safety and digital footprints. Digital footprint will help them for their rest of their lives. Now days, the world is covered with internet entirely, I would tell other students that knowing about digital footprint might change your life. That’s because in the future, the whole world might be digital, therefore, Digital-Literacy is a very important and valuable course that everyone should be learning.
