Rwanda Genocide Presentation Reflection
“Forgive doesn’t mean Forget”
One thing that I can’t understand is war. I don’t know why people could kill their own people because of their own desire. I don’t understand why would people use violence when things can be dealt with words. On Tuesday, when Elizabeth came in as a guest speaker and told us stories and background, it strokes me. Picturing myself there when the disaster happened, it was the first time that I was so close to war and slaughtering. They say that it was evilness, the people who slaughtered was evil, but I thought of it in another way. I think it was foolishness.
One thing that Elizabeth’s speech made me think about was forgiveness. The Tutsi had to forgive the Hutus who slaughtered their family and friends because they had to move on. They had no choice, and they wouldn’t act like Tutsi and start another genocide. Not so long ago, a brutal slaughtering also happened in my country. Even now, when people talk about it, they would still feel anger. But there is nothing that we can do except to forgive them. Sometimes we have no choice but to forgive but forgive does not mean forget.
Good reflection Loki – be sure to tag your work when you post it to your blog as otherwise I may not be able to find it in order to mark it. 5.
