Core Competency: Creative thinking

Here is evidence that I can… generate new ideas, build upon my ideas, build upon or combine ideas of others, develop ideas through experimentation or writing, use setbacks to advance my thinking, take significant risks with my thinking etc.

For this project, I had to use creative thinking because the radio needed to be like a radio in the 1789 and so for the script I had to write it in a way that would portray an essence of what it was like to be in that time period or in the French Revolution. At first it wasn’t easy picking a topic to do a broadcast on since the topic had to be pretty interesting and have enough content write a new broadcast for. Eventually, I chose the Storming of the Bastille because it seemed like an interesting event. But then came the hard part, writing the script. I’m not really good at writing scripts and the fact that I have to write one that took place in the 1780s period I didn’t really know what to write. So in the end I just summarized the Storming of the Bastille and turned it into a script. For the final product, after I put all the recordings together I added sound effects such as a running crowd, gun shot, and so on. I also added music in the background for when the reporter is talking to give a big contrast between the reporter and the anchor.

Ways I want to improve are…

Getting the project done early so that I dont have to rush to get it finished.

  1. Good job adding your project Melissa, but make sure to post a core competency reflection. Please e-mail me once you have done so. 2.5/5.
