Student Reflections:
1. Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):

a) you get to meet new people every year. From new students, new staff, and new parents! This would be nice because your workplace is always changing. It is also nice that you could move schools if you wanted to!

b) The job is always changing with lots of new problems. There would be many problems some good and some not so good. For example, if there was a problem with a computer that you had to fix. This would be a good problem. However, if you got stuck with some not so bright kids in your class that might be a bad problem.

c) You get to see people learn and grow. This would be nice to see because you know your doing something right! This would be especially nice if the student who was succeeding started of not so good and grew a lot.

2. Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):

A) Marking. It sounds like a treacherous job of marking kids assignments, projects and overall work. From my understanding one would need to spend hours on end marking and writing down the marks. This task sounds annoying not only for the obvious reasons but also when you give a students work back they might not be happy with the mark. Even though you spent hours of your life marking the student would be ungrateful of there mark.

B) Lots of unhappy people like students and parents. I have heard many horror stories about parents being angry with the teacher about the way their child is being taught. And no not all these horror stories are from my dads class.😊 I think this would be hard because you being the teacher are put in a hard spot because 1 you are trying your best to help everyone it the class and 2 you want to make everything better but sometimes cant.

C) Writing report cards. I personally I have experienced what my dad goes through 3 times a year every year. Long hours and weekends explain what the students is doing good at and what they need to improve. Lots of hard work on top of my current job just doesn’t appeal to me that much.

3. Is this job for you? Why or why not?

To be honest I don’t know. I feel like I’ve just scraped the tip of the iceberg when it comes to being a teacher. My passion isn’t really teaching but then again, I don’t know where life will take me. Lots of the people I talked to at my dad’s school didn’t originally want to be a teacher but love where they ended up! So, who knows maybe one day I’ll be back at this school only as a teacher.
4. Explain the value of the TYKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary (after high school) plans (education? training? travel? work?).

I really enjoyed being a teacher for a day and seeing what my das work life is like! I got to experience so many awesome and unique things that I usually wouldn’t get to. I also got to put a name to face with a lot of my dad’s coworkers.
I think TYKTW is a great experience for kids my age because you get to experience what life after high school is really like. I think that some kids think that after you finish school its all easy and you don’t really have to do anything. I think TYKTW is a great experience all kids should have. Learned lots during the day and I also made lots of great memorise.
