Take your kid to work day 2018

Name of your host: Gabriela Tulai

Relationship to you: Mother

1. What is your job title?  homemaker (house engineer 😉

2. What is your job description? take care of the house and the people in it.

3. What are the duties and/or tasks you perform at your job? prepare meals, clean the house, drive/walk kids to school and other activities, set up appointments.

4. What qualifications do you have for this job in the following areas:
a) training?  3 kids and a husband
b) education? BSc. Computers, Certified Yoga teacher
c) experience?  life experience
d) skills and attributes (personal qualities)? good organizer, multi task oriented, outgoing, team player

5. What are some of the things you like about the job?  flexibility to organize your own agenda, spending time with my kids, teaching.

6. What are some of the things you dislike about this job? not earning money.

7. How do you anticipate this job changing in the next 5 years or so?  I don’t think the job will change a lot, however with kids growing; some duties might transfer on them to become independent and responsible. Also transition for me to a paid job is on the horizon.

Student Reflections:

1. Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):

a) I like it because there are no bosses.
b) No one has to work all the time doing this job, and there is no paperwork.
c) People look out for things when needed.

2. Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):

a) If I only work at home, then I would not get any money.
b) I would have to clean parts of my house that I would never like to do.
c) That job is harder than I thought it would be.

3. Is this job for you? Why or why not?

No, I would like a different job so that I can earn a lot of money. I don’t know what job I want, but I want it to be a good job.

4. Explain the value of the TYKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post-secondary (after high school) plans (education? training? travel? work?).

The experience of TYKTW shows that whoever works at home could sometimes think it can be really hard. I don’t think this job will help me in anyway for my future career, I never thought what my mom does is a real job, but I appreciate the fact that she does many things and sometimes there is a lot of pressure. I would not want to be a home maker but I it sounds interesting that you do something like that.

  1. Sebastian, 5/5- Excellent work on your assignment. Sounds like you had an interesting day. You have done a very good job fully answering the questions on the interview portion of assignment. You have included a photo of your work place visit. You have correctly tagged and labelled your assignment. Your reflection has been well thought out and is thoughtful, and descriptive.
