Creative Short Story- English 9

Creative Story:

Reflection:  The creative short story assignment was to find an everyday item, from outside the classroom or home, and incorporate it into a futuristic dystopian short story. It was suggested to get into partners, which led to me to become partners with my fellow classmate Mackenzie Jones. The first day we decided we were going to choose an item from outside of the classroom to incorporated into our story, though he had a little conundrum when we were left with two items, a mushroom and an acorn. The mushroom appeared very dystopian as once I accidentally stepped on one for it to puff out a weird gas ( if you want to see the weird gas check out the video in our presentation), on the other hand the acorn was found without a top that popped many ideas of how the acorn could have lost his top into both our heads. In the end we decided to include them both in our story, but that didn’t solve another problem we faced, we had to many creative ideas and we couldn’t decide on the main idea we were going to stick with for the short story. This is when our third member, Isabella Zhou, joined our group. she was able to identify the progressiveness of the ideas and went with one of our last ideas. We were all very static to work on this idea because it was also on of the most fun ideas we came up with. Though once we started to write the story, ideas were spit out in a not organized way and we had to take a break and write them down. This communication skill we required made the team back into the same boat and ultimately made the creative story better. Another thing we made sure to communicate was if we were going to be away. Mackenzie made sure she told us that on our last day of work she will be absent, which was very helpful as we planned out the day so we could be efficient without a member. In the end this was on of the most fun I’ve had doing a project so far in high school through the partners, clear communication, and the interesting assignment. But there were some things I wish I  could identify as an issue. Ways I could identify this skill is to plan before hand. If I used this skill then the little problems we ran into would go away. But overall it was fun and it was nice to learn ways that I can make future group projects more organized.
