Extracurricular Soccer

My favourite activity to do outside of school is soccer. For me soccer is the most enjoyable sport and hobby. First I will explain what soccer is. Soccer is a sport where there are 11 players on each team and the objective is to get the ball into the opponent’s goal. Nobody is allowed to use their hands other than the goalies. If the ball goes out of play it will be a throw in so you just throw it in but the ball has to go all the way behind your back. There are also corner kicks and off sides. I have been playing soccer since I was very young like around 4 years old. My entire family have played soccer so I kind of had to but I really enjoyed it.  You could say it was in my blood.

When I was younger I wasn’t very good and just like all the other kids just chasing around the ball. After a while though with years of practice around the age of 7 I started over powering the other kids. My dad said I should try to play for select which is like a better league for the younger kids from 12 and below. I didn’t really want to but my dad insisted so one day he kind of tricked me into trying out for select but then I ended up making it and I made some new friends in the process. I played there and I haven’t stopped playing yet. I’ve loved soccer ever up from that point.

Now this summer my team where in a tournament. It was very difficult mostly because a lot of our player were injured or away on vacation. So the first few games there weren’t many of us but we called some players to play for our team. We had won all of our games and now it was the last game before the final. Just after halftime I get tripped up and fall hard on my shoulder. I thought it was nothing but even after the game it was still hurting so my parents decided to take me to the doctors. The final was the very next day so I had to play. The doctor seemed convinced that I had a fractured collar bone so we took an X-Ray.

Luckily it was not broken or fractured and just really bruised. So we asked the doctor if I could play tomorrow and he says it would be up to me and how it felt. So the next day my shoulder felt fine so I started playing the game but after just a few minutes my shoulder was hurting again so my coach pulled me off. I was scared we were going to lose because it was a new team and we haven’t played much together. My team played a great game and ended up winning the game. I felt very proud of my team and myself for at least trying to play.
