Critical Thinking – Poem Oral Presentation Reflection
I believe that I demonstrated great participation through identifying the criteria to analyze evidence. I reflected on and evaluated my thinking, products, and actions by making sure I followed the criteria and did what I was supposed to do. I showed that I liked something or not by taking the video of me presenting the poem out loud. I found a way to analyze my own beliefs and seriously consider views that did not fit with the poem, such as finding the right tempo of snaps to fit with the poem.
Since I chose the poem “The Devil in Texas” to present by myself and gather enough knowledge, I was able to ask myself open-ended questions and gather information about it. I considered more than 1 way to present this poem, so I had a couple different options on how fast or slow I could present it. I was able to identify problems I had at first when I tried to snap and read at the same time. I explored different actions as well such as, clapping, stomping, snapping, etc. Using an example to guide me, I decided on a conclusion that I was going to snap at a moderate speed.
Although I showed effort in my presentation, I wasn’t able to insert my video into my sway. I wish I could’ve expanded more to my presentation. I also wish I had a better reason for not choosing to use clapping or stomping. Since I chose to do this presentation independently, I chose to snap only because I thought it wouldn’t sound as loud as clapping. I also hope next time my choices will create exactly my intended impact on the audience, because I’m sure this will help me in the future.
