  1. What is your job title? Chief Technology Officer (cto)
  2. What is your job description?   Leading a globally distributed (remote) team of software engineers to develop software products. Responsible for technology stacks and software development process, ensure product quality meets business requirement. 
  3. What are the duties and/or tasks you perform at your job?  Work with product owner to define the road map of new product; Oversee software development process and overall system operation
  4. What qualifications do you have for this job in the following areas:  Work with product owner to define the roadmap of new product; Oversee software development process and overall system operation

 

5. a)  training?  Training is crucial for this job, solid understanding of programming language and software engineering is the foundation for this job. Continually “training” while performing the day to day job is even more important. That’s the only way we can keep up with the pace of constant evolving software industry.

b)  education?    I have a BS Degree in Computer Science and received my MBA from University of Liverpool

c) experience? I have over 25 years experiences in IT industry with diverse roles of technical support, Enterprise IT management and software development.

d) skills and attributes (personal qualities)?

Quick learner, can learn things and pick up new skill very quickly; Problem solver, can leverage everything possible to get the job done; Strategy thinking, look at things and problem from a higher level instead of diving to it right away.

  1. What are some of the things you like about the job? We build new things from ground up and face new challenges every day while developing the new software. It is tough! But when we finally make it and launch new product, the sense of achievement is overwhelming which others can’t really understand.
  2. Software constantly changes over time.  The only constant is change. Some changes are good, but some will break the previously working software. That’s something I hate to deal with.

 

7. How do you anticipate this job changing in the next 5 years or so? AI will become a new normal. Some jobs will be replaced by machines or robots. Meanwhile some new type of jobs will emerge.

No, because I think  it is not a good fit for my style, I’d like to travel more.

It gave me a great examples of what in the future I would be like, I learned that each job is unique, you have to really excelled at one specific thing in order to find a consistence job.
