Core Competencies Reflection- Invention Project

I believe while creating my invention I used a creative mindset and met the creative thinking Core Competencies. When I started brainstorming for this invention I was stuck, this is because I didn’t know what I wanted to invent. When I started using a creative mindset, I was able to evoke many ideas including the SAMBE Scale which was the idea that I used in the end. Evidence that I have met the Developing ideas point of the Core Competencies are: I build the skills I need to make my ideas work, and usually succeed, even if it takes a few tries. I also “I build on others’ ideas and add new ideas of my own, or combine other people’s ideas in”. I use my experiences with various steps and attempts to direct my future work. This is because well making my Scale I used my problems like disliking washing dishes to my advantage, and put them to use doing the project. That is mostly what I did to utilize the Developing ideas point.

Besides Developing ideas, I also worked well with Generating ideas point of Core Competencies. One of the points was: “I build on others’ ideas and add new ideas of my own, or combine other people’s ideas in”. I did this because I got my idea from an already finished invention, this invention is called the Nutitbullet balance. The Nutitbullet balance is like a SAMBE Scale for smoothies, I found that it is a decent idea, but I wanted to build on it, this is because of many things needed to be fixed with this invention. After that, I met “new ways to create new things or solve straightforward problems”. I achieved this as a result after changing the Nutitbullet Balance blender into a Scale for baking, adding new features and improving the app. After all of that, I believe that my invention is its own product. Though I am satisfied with myself because I met all the core competencies those points are the ones that I am most proud of.

When thinking about the areas that I can work on in this core competency, I have spent lots of time reflecting on each of the skills. I also have thought how I use them well it has listed some of the ways I have used it as a strength, at this point, I don’t feel that there are stills that I could improve on for next time in this area. For example, I tried to look at all of the skills and plan how I would utilize each one is for doing that. At the end of the project, I felt that they were all well used.
