Inventions Project Reflection

Core Competency: Creative Thinking

Novelty and value

How I demonstrated novelty and value on my inventions project is by getting help from my other friends and their ideas and their pointers on what I should do for this project. I built on other people’s ideas by taking my friend’s idea by creating something with a fridge and adding more to it. For example, in this situation (project) I took the fridge idea and turned it into something better and more useful by creating how it can detect when all your food in your Lexie Venda-Fridge is going to get expired, or a personalized talking robot named Lexie that can grab your food out of your fridge when you need it. I can generate ideas by pursuing my interest in creating a triple bottom line fridge that is more useful than other normal fridges. My interest was to create a power-saving fridge that is your personal assistant in many ways, by asking for it to drop “the milk” in the Venda-slot to save energy and power to your power bill. I got ideas that were new to my peers by making an original creative item that I personally came up with and showed my peers something that they haven’t heard/seen of before. How I developed a body of creative work in an area that is in my interest and how I demonstrated it. How I did that was by developing a creative body of work that I put my time and effort into.

Generating ideas

How I used my senses to explore and get ideas. How I demonstrated that in this project was by using my ability to talk to other people to develop and share new ideas to come together to create something original. I built on others, ideas by making a triple bottom line fridge and how I added to that was by taking the fridge idea and turning it into something more advanced and creative by adding different features to the fridge. During this project, when I ran into a problem and how I showed to solve that problem was when I couldn’t possibly make that Lexie Venda-Fridge itself in person so I decided to, make a mini model of what it would look like as if it was in person. A creative way of how I demonstrated this was when I used, cardboard, paper, glue, and pencils, to create the mini model of It and solve my issue of not being able to make a real fridge. How I learned something during this project by doing research. I learned a lot doing research about fridges and how much each piece costs to make it manufacture it to sell it and place it all together. During my research, I also learned the time it takes to build a fridge and how many parts it needs and how many people to come together to make an advanced fridge like the Venda-Fridge. How I showed an original new idea to make this invention even better was when I made it be different colours of stainless steel, that was a particular idea that popped up into my head.

Developing ideas

How I changed an idea that didn’t work into something that could be instead of me searching up things on the internet and coming up with unoriginal ideas I stopped searching with no use of my electronics and came up with an idea myself. For example, in this project my first idea was a coffee mug that was, where you would have 3 different buttons on the mug and one would be for hot water, one would be for cold, and one would be for crème for your coffee. Since there was no possible way for me to visually show this idea, I generated new ideas to come up with a different one. During this assignment how I made all my ideas work together was by adding up all the pieces and making sure one idea for the fridge wouldn’t stop me from adding another feature to it. How I have demonstrated my experience with various steps and attempts to direct my future work. How I have used my skills I already have to demonstrate that it helped me to create this project was using communication. Communicating with my peers, classmates, friends, or teacher to ask for help when I need it.

Lexie Venda-Fridge

Proposal: The Lexie Venda-Fridge is invented to help you organize your fridge with a built-in robot system. The purpose of the robot system which is the main part of the fridge is an automatic voice system that responds to anything starting with “Hey Lexie”.  Lexie is a built-in robot in your Lexie Venda-Fridge that is there to help you organize your fridge and help you with any fruits, vegetables, condiments.

For example, if you ask Lexie “Hey Lexie, drop the ketchup in the Venda-slot” it will automatically take 1.3 seconds to drop the ketchup in the slot.

This process makes it more, easy and officiant to grab your condiments/fruits and veggies, etc out of your Venda-Fridge.

By using the Lexie Venda-Fridge is helps save your fridge’s energy and power instead of having to keep opening and closing your fridge door. By using the Lexie Venda-fridge you also save lots of power, that can lower monthly bills for your power usage. This fridge is better than other fridges because it also helps the environment by using LED lights bulbs in the fridge and freezer that are under 55 watts.

Cost of the Lexie Venda-Fridge: The total cost of the Lexie Venda-Fridge is $2,500.

Unlike any other normal fridge, the Lexie Venda-Fridge comes with an additional charge of $150 for any stain-less steel colour of your choice, for example, we have the options of, Silver stainless steel, Green stainless steel, Blue stainless steel, Pink, purple, yellow, orange, and red.

Estimated Size of Lexie Venda-Fridge: The estimated size for the Venda-Fridge is 35’’ 3 doored fridge, is 107’’ across and 163’’ from top-bottom. The Lexie Venda-Fridge is the same average amount as any other fridge in the market.

The time it takes to build: The estimated time it takes to build the Venda-Fridge is 2 months + shipping straight to your door only takes 5 days (WITH NO EXTRA SHIPPING COST!)
