Shoheijuku Aikido

Hi, my name is Jakub and I really enjoy practicing Aikido. I practice Aikido at Shoheijuku Aikido dojo in Burnaby on Mondays and Thursdays.  I really like Aikido as it helps me to develop my body and my spirit.

Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art. Aikido is a martial art, where a man can defend himself while protecting his attackers from injury. At Shoheijuku dojo, we learn to fight weapons with a short staff, a wooden sword and a knife, and learn to take weapons or detain weapons.

At Shohejuku dojo in Burnaby, Aikido practice is led by Tamami Nakashimada sensei,  6 dan. Tamami ssnsei was born in Japan, where she studied Aikido under Morito Suganuma sensei at Shoheijuku dojo in Fukuoka. Suganuma sensei is a direct student of the Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba

I practice Aikido regularly, because it is adventurous and challenging. Aikido helps me to protect myself, and control my strength and energy.  I have found few new friends in the dojo. You are welcomed to practice with us !

And watch my favorite video of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba from 1935.
