Core Competencies Reflection

Communication

The one thing, which was important in our science group, was comunication. Our assignment was to measure volatage and current of a serial and parell electric circuit. After that, we were asked to create the attached presentation in Sway. At the beginning, we were divided into groups of 4 people. In our group, the first task was an informal talk, where we got conected. Then we brainstormed and threw many ideas. Our group had few challenges, which we solved fast. Despite English is not my first language, I tried to be active as much as possible. I sometimes struggled to express myself, but other people were helpful and we support each other.

In the next step, we divided the work in our group. We communicated well in our group, and I completed everything that we agreed. When somebody needed help and I could help, I stepped in. In one case, when two people had different ideas about the presentation, I was able to create slides thal all liked. I really enjoyed our collaborative work. After all, I think that I improved my communication skills. This will help me in the future.

Ways I want to improve are…

One way which I could improve on next time, is my English language. I am new in Canada. Despite I had many ideas, it was diffilult to express myself. It was a chalange to me, because I can not talk always freely and so fast. Occasionally, I could not share my opinion, because I could not express it with my English skills. Also, I was sometimes nervous. I did not know if people in my group would like my opinions or my opinion would not hurt other people feelings. Lastly, I should prepare more at home. I saw in my group, that others sometimes prepared at home, and I could not contribute as much. I am happy with the work we  did. I am looking forward to beeing better at the next projects.
