Was America Justified in Dropping the Bomb on Japan?

On August 6th, 1945 the world’s first deployed atomic bomb was dropped at 8:16am onto the big city of Hiroshima, which is located in Japan. Hiroshima is the largest city in Honshu and Honshu is the largest island of Japan. Was the bombing justified at all? The devastating bombings on Japan were not justified and it made detrimental changes to Japan. An American b-29 bomber, that was named after the piolet’s mother, ‘Enola Gay’, had flown over the city and deployed a uranium gun-type bomb that would wipe out over 90% of the city. The uranium bomb, ‘Little Boy’, had immediately killed 80,000 people and started many fires that burned down approximately 4.4 square miles of land.

Both the bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not justified at all because they took the lives of thousands of innocent people who had done nothing wrong. The value of a person’s life is undoubtedly higher than the value of any bomb or anything else. They were blameless civilians who did not deserve to lose their life in those circumstances. It is true that the bombings were able to put an end the war quickly and stop people from dying, but if the war had continued there would have been more people that died due to the cause of the invasion. The invasion would have definitely lowered the number of casualties, but that is not a valid reason to kill the innocent people. Another reason that is not valid for killing innocent people is that Japan’s forces were weak and not prepared for any bombings anytime in the near future. Therefore this made Japan to be an easy target leading to America deciding to quickly taking the opportunity.

It was unnecessary for America to deploy the bombs on Japan. It completely destroyed both the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in an instant. A positive factor was that there was a small portion of the population that was able to survive. Many of the families were split up and many people were left stranded without shelter or any source of food for multiple days. The affects were overwhelming not only for the innocent people that were living in the city but as well as the rest population around the world. The remainder of the people who were alive not only were traumatized from this event, all of them were suffering badly from the effects of various types of burns, loss of a limb or multiple limbs and other body parts, major injuries that were life threatening and malnutrition. In addition to wiping out the whole city the bombs had also damaged the environment badly. After the bombs had hit, it left extreme levels of dangerous radiation in the ground. It was a severe health concern that lead to the cause of radiation sickness. A few of the symptoms of radiation sickness is bleeding from multiple areas, dehydration, confusion and bruises. In the present day both of the cities are no longer radioactive to a point where it is dangerous for humans to be but there are still extremely low levels of background radiation that is natural, and it can be found anywhere on earth. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are now safe and tranquil cities that are great places to visit if you are looking for somewhere to take a peaceful vacation.

In conclusion America was not justified in dropping the bombs. No matter what the circumstances where they did not have the right to end thousands of innocent people’s lives. Although the bomb was able to lower the number of casualties America was still not a ration decision that was made. If the bomb wasn’t going to be used it would’ve gone to waste but instead, they were settled on the choice that ending people’s lives was more important. Not only were the people hurt but so was the land. The bombs destroyed the cities environments. This was unjustified.
