Cloning Poster

For my core competency reflection for this project, I decided to write a few paragraphs on creative thinking. I think creative thinking was one of the most important factor when making a poster. I really had to put a lot of thinking when I  made this poster. I wanted to put many meaning in the poster. When I first got the project, I thought of going against cloning. However, I changed my mind after considering some questions Mrs.Hewitt gave me. I decided to make a propaganda poster that supports cloning. The three type of propaganda I used was band-wagon, emotional appeal and glittering generalities. I thought of using testimonials instead of glittering generalities but I thought the glittering generalities would fit my poster better.  It took me about 30 minutes of brainstorm to get my idea. I got some advice from my friends. I enjoyed the process of brainstorming because getting new ideas made me excited.
After brainstorming, I changed my purpose of poster like I mentioned before. I tried to think about the good reasons to not support Cloning, but after discussing with my friends, I changed my mind. In this process, I was able to build on others’ ideas and add new ideas of my own. Also, I was able to combine my previous ideas with other people’s ideas in new ways. While discussing, one suggested the keyword of “burden.” Then, I started developing new ideas. This led me to a question, “What if everyone has one clone to get help?” I changed my poster and divided the paper to a half. One side has people with their clones and the other side has only one person without clone. This shows how I generate new questions just pop into my head into the poster.
Lastly, completing this poster project was quite a challenge, yet exciting. First, I didn’t know how to develop ideas when I first got this assignment. I had to make a decision and brainstorm my plan for the poster. Through this process, I was able to try few different ideas between supporting clone and protesting clone. While exploring two different ideas, I was able to deliberately learn a lot about the idea of cloning. This led me to have a successful poster. Even though I failed to make a poster based on my first idea, my second idea was successful. It was possible because I generate ideas with my friends discussing new possible ideas for my poster. Also, the techniques that the poster required was met due to my creative thinking. I believe this experience will help me do better in the future.
