Afrika Road Rap

Core Competency: Communication

When doing the project on Afrika Road, we showed communication by expressing our learning through our rap, using a catchy beat to make it more intriguing and working well as a group.

We showed our communication by using many keywords from the story Afrika Road like mpimpi and toi-toi. We used these words in a unique way and made them flow within the song. Also, we used many words lines like ” I’ve seen beginnings and remains”. This rhymed with the line before “I’m not like any other lanes”. This was throughout our whole song and made the song more interesting. Lastly, we all came in costumes and match for an extra effect. We all wore black with sunglasses and a chain. This is just one of the many ways we showed communication.

The second way we showed communication was how we stayed in touch outside of school. This was how we were able to dress the same. The costumes added an extra effect to the rap. We exchanged numbers and were texting constantly over the weekend. We all made different lines and worked very well as a group. The whole song seemed to flow together. We used our class time well and took advantage of every chance we got to work. This added to the communication aspect of our learning.

For next time I think that we could have added some more things to our costume and practice the tone of our voice. We could have maybe added a hat and some sweatpants to add an even bigger effect. And for our tone, we could have matched the tone of the actual song but we did go to the exact beat and similar iambic pentameter to the actual song. Overall I would work with this group again and we did a great job of communicating our learning through the rap.
