Whatever you do, do it well. – Walt Disney

For The Banner

The activity I have chosen is Hockey. I have been playing Hockey since I was 6. I have fallen in love with this fast, intense and exciting sport. Though Hockey I have made new friends and new life skills. Nothing compares to the feeling of scoring your first goal or taking a shot from the blue line. Hockey improves your mood, physical health and social awareness. Every year the teams change and you get to meet so many new people.

My favourite memory in Hockey includes when my team and I won the banner. It was a close game 1-1 going into the 3rd. The whole game was very even. Shortly through the 3rd wide-open one-timer for my teammate. Missed the net my inches. The whole team morale went down. 9 minutes left in the 3rd, a penalty was taken. This was it, this is when we lose. Or so we thought. 7 minutes left in the 3rd, the penalty is over after an exceptional penalty kill. 5 minutes left in the 3rd, slapshot from the point, but a beautiful save by our goalie. With only 4 minutes left in the 3rd, my teammate scored 5 hole off of my breakout pass. We managed to squeak out with the win. This is my favourite memory in Hockey.

Overall Hockey has shaped every aspect of my life and I don’t know where I would be without it. I was very proud of our team by overcoming adversity and not letting our emotions out too early. Today Hockey has been part of almost every aspect of my life. I crave it and enjoy seeing my friends there also. Every year I mark the date Hockey will start again.
