Student Reflections:
1. Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):
a) The pay is a substantial amount. According to www.glasdoor.ca the average Vice Principal gets around $117,542 per year. I could do with that money right about now!

b) Working with other people. You get to talk and work with Teachers and Principals and personal I would like that much more than sitting in a cubical writing all by myself. interacting and getting to know the kids is something that I would want to do.

c) When you are a Vice Principal you get to cover some classes and that would be one thing that I like to do. My host (Cheryl Lloyd) said that she usually covers classes regularity when the teacher can’t make it to work and there isn’t a TOC available.

2. Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):

a) Lots of work. There is a lot that comes with this job, as I saw today. You are constantly running around solving problems and putting out fires. My Mom is always at home doing work for at least 2 hours a night. Meetings are something that I wouldn’t be comfortable with right about now. I don’t love to talk in front of large groups of people and that was what I saw happening.(Talking to staff).

b) The downside of being with lots of kids is that there is always that group of kids that are misbehaving. Having to do with the problems that come up on a daily basis with eventually wear me out and I will not be having the greatest of times.

c) The meetings that you have take up a lot of your day and they are sometimes early or late in the day. Most times you have to create a presentation and give a speech to the staff. One of my stretches is public speaking, so that will be some thing I will not enjoy.
3. Is this job for you? Why or why not?
I think that this job isn’t for me. There is to much running around and meetings that I wouldn’t enjoy. I think that I can be a teacher because I like to help people. I think that I could be a math teacher because I love math and I think that I could be good at helping other people with math. But with Vice principal there is a lot more work and responsibility that I think eventually might be ready for but not now or anytime soon.
4. Explain the value of the TYKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary (after high school) plans (education?, training?, travel?, work?)

I learned a lot about what my mom does  during her day. I had no idea she did as much as she did. I defiantly now know that I want to go to university and get some sort of degree in a field that I enjoy and want to work in. I do want to work close to home because going around the world and traveling for your job isn’t something I want to do. I would be happy with being a teacher but I still think that there is a job out there that I would like more. Overall, it was a god experience to see what it was like to work and to get to know more about what my mom does on a daily basis.
