Digital Footprint

  1.  My digital footprint can affect my job opportunity’s, by portraying me in a way that is not appropriate for a work environment and it can also bring up inappropriate old portrayal’s of yourself that don’t describe the current you.
  2. Three strategies you can use to hide your digital footprint is to always keep your social media accounts private, to keep a small amount of friends that you trust, and to avoid being tagged in other posts by friends with public accounts.

Tips for Googling.

  1. A possible tool to narrow your google search is to add a Dash and next to it write what you don’t want to search for Ex (-fishing), another way to narrow your google search is to add quotations around a quote if you want to find reference to where that quote came from from.
  2. First I searched up “Liverpool”, than, using the strategy I just watched, I put in the search bar (-city) it then went from 806 million search results, to 685 million search results.

Reliability on Information Section

Some clues you can look for when finding a relevant video are when the page hasn’t been updated in a while, when the website does not include a author or directions to where the information is from. These two clues are in my opinion the most important, but some other things you want to look out for when finding a reliable website are, Wikipedia’s, blogs, answers.com, and also uploaded websites. Things you should trust are government websites, approved school websites, and organization websites.

Personal Learning Network

A Personal Learning Network (PLN), from my knowledge is a network such as YouTube or Twitter where people of different knowledge levels talk and share on the same platform about a topic. Each person receives a different education and view, and they all share it on a personal platform or group therefore enhancing each others understanding of the topic and providing an extra learning platform

2a)           My personal learning platforms right now are usually the best platforms that describe what I need, some good platforms and websites that I like to use are, YouTube, National Geographic, twitter, and uploaded school discussions. Another strategy I use is going onto Wikipedia, and finding some of the linked websites on there, and from that point browsing those websites looking for more official and real documents.

  1. James, You haven’t achieved a passing mark on this assignment. If it is located somewhere else, please copy it and embed it on this page. Please have a look at the assignment page and follow the directions for the Digital Awareness Infographic. http://kodiaks.sd43.bc.ca/digital-literacy-assignments/ You need an infographic which contains 4 sections (Digital Footprint, google searches, reliability of information, and your personal learning network). Each section should have a combination of relevant graphics along with detailed information for each explaining why these are important and how they can impact you. Your Infographic should be embeded on this page. Please feel free to email me a link to your assignment using your district email account if you make significant improvements and want the page marked again. If you need help you can come see me in room 213 at flex.

  2. James, You have done a satisfactory job of constructing your infographic. Your message shows an understanding of your digital footprint, reliability of information, search tools and PLN, but some information was minimal or irrelevant, or was not as extensive as it could be. You also need to ensure that the overall presentation of your infographic is more appealing to the audience and includes graphics for every section. More support could be provided. Could be further developed in order to receive a better mark. Please feel free to email me a link to your assignment using your district email account if you make significant improvements If you need help you can see me in room 213 at flex. Grade: C
